Weekly Update

Over the past week we continued to explore letters and sounds. We have added letters B and C to our alphabet books.

In math we were working with patterns and are starting to make numbers using our own fingers or small objects.

In science we have been learning about how animals adapt to winter. We are learning that some animals migrate, some hibernate, some gather food and some change their coats.

Please remember report cards will be available online by the end of this week. Please contact the school office if you are having issues viewing them, or you are unable to access PowerSchool.

Weekly Update

This past week the students continued to review all the letters and math concepts studied so far. They had guided drawing lessons for the letters N, P and T (for the letter Nn we drew ourselves as Ninjas which was a big hit).

In math we reviewed AB patterns and started experimenting with ABC patterns.

In social studies we continued to learn about the circle of courage. We are now focusing on Generosity as a school.

Gym continues to be outside in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. Please remember to give your children mittens, snow pants, boots and warm jackets. An extra pair of socks comes in handy when children's socks get wet.

Welcome Back To In Person School

Thank you all for a great week online! This week would not have been possible without parents, children and teachers working together.

The kindergarten team (Ms. Florea, Mrs. Reguly and Ms. Cadman) would like to tank you for all your hard work. Many parents had to work from home, care for multiple children, take time off, or make special arrangements in order to help their children be part of online school. Adults and children alike, had to learn to work with new technology and adapt to these challenging ever changing times.

We are grateful for all that you have done this week and look forward to seeing you in person, at school, on Monday.

Weekly Message

During our virtual assembly on Friday we focused on Generosity. This is the second area of the Circle of Courage we will be learning about.  We have been talking about different winter customs as well as how Generosity makes  big difference.

In language arts we have explored the letters Ss, Aa, Tt, Ii, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp, and their corresponding sounds. Students have been challenged to find words starting with these sounds. Take some time to go on a letter hunt around the house and see if you can spot any items that start with these letters.

In math, we have been working on making groups of different numbers and have used our knowledge to create ornaments that have certain numbers of decorative items on them.

This past week we have started our Alphabet Unit. Our new alphabet books are looking great. The first letters we will be studying are:  Ss, Tt, Aa, Ii, Mm.

We have introduced a new alphabet song. This song will be a recurring song amongst others. It might take a while for kids to correctly be able to read the song. Please practice as often as possible.
